Breaking Beer News: 4th of July Release at Liberty Street
If you're in the Plymouth area tomorrow during America's Birthday™, swing by Liberty Street Brewing, 149 W. Liberty St., and check out the release of Emperor Norton Russian Imperial Stout, a 11% ABV beast brimming with chocolate, coffee, and dark fruit flavors. This special recipe historically has been released only in small batches, but now you can enjoy the first batch created on Liberty's main system.
If you're wondering why a Russian imperial stout on the 4th of July, Liberty brewer and owner Joe Walters explains that the name of the beer is derived from Joshua Abraham Norton, a 19th-century San Francisco "crackpot" who proclaimed himself "Emperor of these United States." (Pretty sure I've sat next to this dude's descendants in various bars at one time or another...)
